Dr Norma Gregory is a heritage specialist, educator and heritage arts creative practitioner.
For almost thirty years, Norma has contributed significantly to education and has researched and produced quality heritage-related media products, educational resources and exhibitions, helping to develop, expand, and enrich heritage while addressing misrepresentation and under-represented aspects of our multicultural, shared history.
Norma works in active co-creative partnerships with local, national and international heritage-related organisations, seeking to enhance cultural provision and museum access for all people.
Norma has produced a wide range of innovative heritage education products and resources and provides successful educational consultation services to support professional and personal growth and engagement.

Founder Biography
Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Communities
Norma Jacqueline Gregory was born in Nottingham, England, UK, in 1969. She sought self-development by acquiring knowledge through her love of education, literature, the creative arts, photography, media production and, in particular, African and Caribbean UK diaspora history.
Norma is an active and successful museum consultant and educator. She is the director and founder of the Black Miners (online) Museum Archive and Nottingham News Centre, a social enterprise founded in 2013 that serves the community through training, literacy provision and heritage media content production.
Norma Gregory completed many years of mentoring and teaching employment in various schools and higher education institutions across London and Nottingham, which encouraged her to pursue her goals of personal and professional autonomy as an museum educator, author, speaker and heritage media producer.
She is an honoured recipient of the Alumni Laureate Award in 2017 and Doctor of Letters (DLitt) from the University of Nottingham, UK in 2023, for her dedication to the heritage sector and community education through heritage.
With many years’ experience in educational and media settings, Norma says, “I relish opportunities for others to progress by supporting global heritage and museum development through education. I stand for the values, vision, and mission that ensure education, museums and heritage are for everyone. Always”

In October 2014, Norma Gregory orchestrated and sponsored (through Nottingham News Centre) the first blue heritage plaque in the City of Nottingham for George Africanus (c1763-1834) with the support of the people of Nottingham, Nottingham City Council and partnership work with Nubian Jak Community Trust international blue plaque scheme.
This initiative formally commemorated the place of residence for George Africanus and family on Victoria St, Nottingham (formerly Chandler’s Lane), once the location of his business and many life achievements of an 18th century entrepreneur of African heritage, in the city of Nottingham, originally researched into by Christopher Weir (Nottinghamshire County Council Senior Archivist), Len Garrison, Ray Gale and later by Belong Nottingham, Rosanna Ottewell and volunteers.
In August 2015, Nottingham Express Transit (NET) and Nottingham City Council launched the George Africanus tram, unveiled by Norma Gregory and Councillor Jane Urquhart.
